Selina is one of the founding members of BGMS. For nearly 20 years, her practice has been concentrated in mediation and alternative dispute resolution. Selina practices through the firm’s subsidiary, The Alternative Group, which offers a full range of alternative dispute resolution practices including mediation, collaborative law, arbitration, early neutral evaluation, mediation training, and systems design. Selina has mediated over 2,000 cases during the course of her career and is known for her innovative thinking and her effective and facilitative mediation style. Although her practice has grown to include other types of cases, she was one of the first family law mediators in Allegheny County and has extensive experience mediating high level divorce cases.
In 2014, Selina received her LL.M. in Conflict Resolution at The Straus Institute at the University of Pepperdine School of Law, which is the highest rated program of its kind in the country. She is an approved mediator for the U.S. District Court of Western Pennsylvania and U.S. Bankruptcy Court. She currently mediates for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and Home Depot's Presuit Program. From 1997 through 2010, Selina served as a custody mediator for the Generations Program of the Family Division of the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas.
Selina is an active both locally and nationally in the Mediation community and serves as current President of the Mediation Council of Western Pennsylvania. She is a frequent presenter and trainer on mediation issues and serves as an adjunct professor at Pepperdine University School of Law, UNLV School of Law, and Duquesne University School of Law, teaching both Mediation and Judgment and Decision Making.
When not mediating, Selina enjoys spending time with her husband, negotiating with her three active kids, running a marathon or two, and sneaking off to yoga.
